Mint & Credit Karma Integration Guide: Import Bank Transactions

Guide to managing bank transactions with Mint (now Credit Karma Money). Manual import options and transaction management tips.

By Financial Tech Team

While Intuit Mint was discontinued in early 2024, many users have migrated to Credit Karma or other personal finance tools. This guide covers importing bank statements into popular Mint alternatives to continue tracking your finances effectively.

Mint Alternatives Overview

With Mint's transition, users have several excellent alternatives for personal finance tracking:

  • Credit Karma: Where most Mint users migrated (same Intuit ecosystem)
  • YNAB: Zero-based budgeting approach
  • Personal Capital: Investment-focused with banking
  • Monarch Money: Modern budgeting app
  • Copilot: AI-powered finance tracking (iOS)
  • Simplifi: Quicken's modern budgeting tool

Mint Transition Note

If you were a Mint user, your data may have been migrated to Credit Karma. Check your Credit Karma account for historical transaction data.

Importing to Credit Karma

Credit Karma inherited Mint's features and offers automatic bank connections:

Bank Connection Setup

  1. Log into Credit Karma
  2. Navigate to Money section
  3. Click Link Account
  4. Search for your bank
  5. Enter your banking credentials
  6. Transactions sync automatically

Manual Transaction Entry

For accounts without automatic sync:

  1. Use the Add Transaction feature
  2. Enter date, amount, payee, and category
  3. Note: Credit Karma doesn't support bulk CSV imports

Importing to Monarch Money

Monarch Money is a popular Mint alternative with excellent import features:

CSV Import Process

  1. Convert your PDF statement to CSV using ConvertBank

  5. Select the target account
  6. Upload your CSV file
  7. Map columns to Monarch fields
  8. Review and import

Monarch CSV Requirements

  • Date: Transaction date
  • Merchant/Payee: Transaction description
  • Amount: Positive for income, negative for expenses
  • Category: Optional, can assign after import

Importing to Simplifi by Quicken

Simplifi offers modern budgeting with file imports:

Import Steps

  1. Open Simplifi (web or mobile)
  2. Go to Settings → Accounts
  3. Select your account
  4. Click Upload Transactions
  5. Choose QFX, OFX, or CSV format

Importing to Personal Capital (Empower)

Personal Capital (now Empower) focuses on investment tracking but includes banking:

Account Connection

  1. Log into Empower dashboard
  2. Click Link Account
